Career
in Medicine, besides being one of the noble professions,
continues to hold considerable attraction for students
looking for respectable and everative jobs. It offers
rewarding career opportunities both in service sector
as well as in private practice. It affords you an opportunity
to serve the people and make good earning. But the study
in Medicine is not an easy job. It needs lot of hard
work and long study hours during course of your study.
And equally difficult is getting admitted to the course
because of the limited number of seats available in
the existing medical colleges comparing the large number
of aspirants competing for these seats.
Besides
MBBS, Dental, Homeopathy, Pharmacy, Nursing, Ayurvedic
Medicine, ----- Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational
Therapy etc. are also important branches of Medicine.
In most of the cases domicile condition is applicable,
there are institutions which offer admissions on All-India
basis by conducting competitive entrance tests.

Academic
Qualification: 12 years Sr. Sec. Exam with 50% (40%
for SC/ST) aggregate marks in English, Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and English. Passed at higher secondary. Candidates
should be medically fit.
Entrance
exam: Consist of one paper in Physics, Chemistry
and Biology (Botany and Zoology)(combined) of 2.1/2
hours duration and carries 800 marks. The question are
of objective type with negative marks for incorrect
response. The syllabus for the entrance exam is given
in the bulletin of information.

the humanity and is rightly considered to be a noble
profession.
General
Guidelines for Admission: Medical colleges in India
follow a different type of admissions of students. In
private medical colleges 50% of the seats for undergraduate
course (MBBS) are known as merit seats, and other 50%
are called payment seats. The 15% of the payment seats
can be filled by the NRI / Foreign Students. The admissions
to merit as well as payment seats are made through an
open competitive process. All private as well as govt.
medical institutes, for admission, follow the
eligibility
criteria prescribed by their respective university,
however, in general terms the candidates seeking admission
to a medical college should have passed Senior Secondary
Examination of CBSE or its equivalent with Physics,
Chemistry & Biology with 50% marks. All Government Medical
Colleges except those in the state of Andhra Pradesh
and Jammu & Kashmir, have 15% seats reserved for admissions
for the students from other states. For this, the Central
Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) conducts All India
Entrance Examination. The information on eligibility
conditions, applications, and entrance examination procedure
for these 15% seats is as under:
Eligibility:

Medium
/ Language: Hindi / English Centers: Agartala, Ahmedabad,
Shillong and Trivandrum Result: The CBSE conducts the
exam, evaluates the answer scripts, prepares the merit
/ waiting list and notifies the result in leading newspapers.
A copy of the merit / waiting list of candidates is
forwarded to the Director General of Health Services
who allocate the seats at medical / dental college.
In case of a tie, intense merit is determined on marks
in Zoology, Botany, Chemistry and Physics.
PRE-MEDICAL
ENTRANCE EXAMINATION
The profession
of medicines is directly related to the well being of

CBSE: CBSE
has certain seats reserved for itself in most of the
prestigious Medical Colleges in India. CBSE conducts
a pre-medical Test called CBSE-PMT which is generally
conducted in the 2nd week of May. Approximately 2000
students are selected and the allotment of colleges
is based on ranking. There are other prestigious Medical
Colleges.
Qualification:
The Higher secondary Examination or the Indian School
Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2.
Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period
of 12 years study, the last two years of study comprising
of Physics, Chemistry, Biology with English at a level
not less than the core course for english prescribed
by NCERT after the introduction of the 10+2+3 years
educational structure as recommended by the National
committee on Education. Candidates for admission to
the medical / dental course must have obtained not less
than 50% (40% for SC/ ST/ OBC) of the total marks in
English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken together
at qualifying examination. All those candidates who
have appeared or are appearing at the qualifying examination
and aspect to pass the examination with the required
percentage of the total marks in aggregate are also
eligible to apply and appear in the competitive entrance
examination.
Entrance
Examination: The examination will have one paper
consisting or Physics, Chemistry and Biology of 2.5
years duration. There will be 200 objective type questions
carrying 800 marks.

Pondicherry, Patna, Chandigarh, Lucknow, Ahmedabad,

Calcutta, Bhubneshwar, Jaipur, Bhopal, Shimla, Delhi.
Selection:
A merit list of all successful candidates shall also
be prepared by the Board in order of merit. The results
are published in the leading newspapers.
Last
date: The last date of receipt of application form
/ fee by registered post is usually in 1st or 2nd week
of February. Banaras Hindu University BHU - Medical
Examination Banaras Hindu University conducts its Entrance
Tests usually during May-June for admission. Admissions
are done according to merit in the Entrance Tests, Subject
to fulfiling of eligibility requirements. Entrance Test,
Admission forms are issued by the office of the controller
of examinations usually in February - March every year.
The Entrance
Tests are held at the following centers in India
- Varanasi, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad
